About the author

Our mission is to make quality education accessible for all - globally.

2020 has been a year like no other.

Things that we once took for granted, like going on holiday overseas, can now be out of reach (or at least no longer fully in our control).

As an international student, it’s more important than ever before to sufficiently research your visa and travel requirements, and get the relevant documents finalised well in advance.

But with visa and travel restrictions changing in countries every day due to the pandemic, you need to stay updated on the restrictions that impact you, to ensure you don’t miss any important deadlines.

Where do you start?

Luckily, we’ve got the resources to help you plan your next steps. Check out these 5 links international students need to track global visa and travel restrictions.

For visas and entry to the US

Planning on travelling to the US for your masters degree? NAFSA is a trusted site to stay updated on COVID-19 restrictions on US visas and entry. Get the latest press releases, and the dates and deadlines you need to factor into your study abroad plans.

US travel for students from India

If you’re travelling from India to the US, you need to keep checking with your local embassy. The US Embassy and Consulates in India is the site to follow for information on restrictions, when visa offices will be open, entry and exit requirements, and more.

For visas and entry to the UK

For student visas to the UK, the UK Government’s official website has the information you need on visa applications and international travel. Some UK Visa Application Centres are resuming services where local restrictions allow, but stay updated by continuously checking the page.

For visas and entry to Canada

Heading to Canada? Check out the Government of Canada’s site to see what travel exemptions and restrictions apply to international students from your country.

Other travel restrictions by country

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has a handy interactive map detailing COVID-19 travel recommendations by country. Simply click on the country to get updated travel health information about COVID-19.

No matter where you’re going, always research the latest restrictions with authorities in your home country as well as the country you plan on travelling to.

If you need more study abroad advice, check out this international student’s blog for tips on navigating your journey. And when you’re ready to start looking into how to finance your overseas studies, we’re here for you.
